SCORE SHEET KEEPING

Maximum of 4 people can play the game. When 4 people play the game is is also called DUPLICATES. One of the player works as score keeper and keeps tally of each players words played and score of the words played. Update the score sheet after every move.

BEGIN THE WAR of WORDS

All the tiles are placed in a bag or a box as per convenience. Turns can be decided either by mutual agreement or by taking out a tile each. The player whose tile is closest to A in alphabet chronology starts the game and other players turn is decided in the same way. In case of 2 or more players drawing similar tiles a tie breaker is used and they are asked to draw again. After deciding the turns the tiles are to be placed back in the bag or box and shuffled. Each player takes out 7 tiles from the bag or box and puts them on his/her rack. Do not disclose your tiles to other players while on rack. After every turn take out the number of tiles from bag/box as per the number of tiles played. In case you find any tile that is of no worth or useless for you straight away change it, don't worry about losing a chance, for losing a chance is better then low scoring words. In case you don't want to play a particular turn you may pass. Generally 4 passes without play ends the game if all players pass and no tile is played. The first player combines the tiles to make a word and places it on the board across or down the line of central square. Diagonal words are not allowed.

Please note all words/tiles should be placed in one continuous line or should connect to at least one tile on board.

CHOOSE YOUR DICTIONARY

All the words listed in dictionary are permitted to be played. Please note that there are different directories for the game based on language dictionaries and regions i.e. IN USA and Canada TWL dictionary is used where as in UK and many other countries such as AUSTRALIA, AFRICA, ASIA and other parts of world SOWPODS is the dictionary followed. There are other dictionaries also for French as well as Dutch version of dictionary. Hence  before the start decide what dictionary is going to be followed.

CHALLENGE A WORD

TILE FAIRY says once a tile or word has been placed on the board it can not be moved unless challenged by opponent and confirmed wrong after consulting dictionary. The word must be challenged before the other player makes a move. If the move has been made challenges shall become null and void.

BINGO the 7 LETTER WORD

7 letter word or Bingo is the most preferred and looked upon way of scoring 60+ points. Keep a lookout for the chances.

END OF THE WAR

The game ends when all the tiles have been played or players pass 4 times continuously without placing a tile on board. The play also ends when all possible moves have been made and there is no more move left. After totaling the scores, each players score is reduced by the sum of unused tiles on there rack. Any player who has played out all the tiles on rack gets his/her score increased by the sum of unused tiles of other players. That's the end bonus of WAR.
